Nonfiction Book

Deborah’s flagship nonfiction book, currently untitled, is a personal account of her journey to motherhood – the trials and the triumphs, the path behind her and the path ahead. It covers such topics as coping with infertility issues, raising foster children, working with child placement agencies, forming forever families through domestic adoption, maintaining relationships with birth parents, parenting children with special needs, balancing family and careers, and more. Intended to be both inspirational and educational, readers are sure to find encouragement through Deborah’s personal stories, while gaining insight into the child welfare system. Within the pages of this book’s 15 chapters, Deborah shares life experiences that run the emotional gamut, anecdotes that will promote laughter and those that will bring tears to readers’ eyes. The table of contents and sample chapters are available to interested publishers upon request.

Children’s Books

In addition to the current availability of Why Are You My Mother?, there are plans to publish more children’s books through Dreams Due Media Group and/or third-party publishers.

  • Hammin’ It Up, Volume I is a book of poems inspired by everyday parenting challenges and humorous interactions between parents and their children. Fourteen poems, of varying lengths and styles, represent a wide range of topics – eating dessert, attending a wedding, throwing a temper tantrum, putting on smelly shoes, and more. Additional poetry written by Deborah will be compiled and presented in future volumes of the Hammin’ It Up series.
  • What is Adoption Day? and Why Do We Have to Say Goodbye? – Planned for future publication, these two titles, along with many others in Deborah’s foster care and adoption repertoire, are specifically written for young children who are in foster care and those who have been adopted out of the foster care system. Each book responds to its title question with simple and gentle text that draws a young child into a world of love and change.
  • Johnny and Millie stories follow the adventures of two young travelers. For the first time in written form, loveable characters created and delivered through two generations of bedtime stories come to life in books that help young children discover worldly destinations and cultures. Deborah invites kids to join Johnny and Millie on journeys that are sure to educate and entertain. The first two titles are Johnny Goes to New York and Millie Goes to Alaska.
